DESCRIPTION:Guest Speaker will be Jana Riley with Public Works Arts Center. \nAs one of the original founders of Public Works Art Center\, Jana Riley has led the organization from the early days of hopes and dreams to today\, where the goodness and activities of the art center are a dreamy reality. Raised in Summerville\, Jana is a longtime advocate for preserving the important parts of the community while intentionally encouraging evolution through arts\, culture\, and togetherness. Believing that empathy is the key to healing the cracks in our society\, Jana diligently seeks ways to promote connecting people with one another and amplifying as many voices as possible. Jana is a graduate of Summerville High School and Gardner-Webb University\, an alumni of Leadership Dorchester and the Together SC Carolina Leadership Seminars\, and going into her third year at the U.S.

SUMMARY:General Meeting - Guest Speaker: Scott Slatton
DESCRIPTION:Guest Speaker will be Scott Slatton\, Town Administrator with the Town of Summerville. \nA native of the “dark corner” in northern Greenville County\, Scott Slatton brings a wealth of experience and a diverse background to his new position. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Winthrop University and a Master of Public Administration from George Mason University. Slatton’s career includes experience as a political writer on Capitol Hill\, a human resources and information technology director for a Charlotte manufacturing company\, a town manager in North Carolina and as a city manager in South Carolina. \nMost recently\, Slatton dedicated nearly 16 years to the Municipal Association of South Carolina\, where he held multiple positions that involved providing training and technical assistance\, lobbying and communications services to the state’s 271 cities and towns. \nSlatton holds the Credentialed Manager designation from the International City and County Management Association and is a South Carolina City and County Management Association member. His extensive involvement in professional\, community\, and state boards and committees underscores his commitment to public service. Additionally\, Slatton is an Eagle Scout and a former volunteer firefighter\, with an induction into the Woodruff Fire Department Hall of Fame in 2012. \nScott has been married to his wife\, Dr. Angie Slatton\, for 29 years\, and they have two adult children\, Joshua and Abbie. The Town of Summerville is excited to welcome Scott Slatton and looks forward to his leadership and vision for the community. \n
